Assigning Roles to Users

This topic explains the procedure to assign roles to users .

Roles serve as means to regulate authorization on tasks. By assigning roles to users, you can define the privileges that you can associate with a user. You can assign roles to users in multiple ways as described below:

Go to CUSP > My Applications, click (User Manager) and select Users - Roles view in the User Manager window .

• To assign a single role to a single user, follow the below steps:
  

1. Select a user in the Users pane.
   
2. Select a role in the Roles pane.
   
3. Right click the role and click Assign to Selected User(s).
   

• To assign a single role to multiple users, follow the below steps:
  

1. Select multiple users in the Users pane.
   
2. Select a role in the Roles pane, right click it and click Assign to Selected User(s).
   

• To assign multiple roles to a single user, follow the below steps:
  

1. Select a user in the Users pane.
   
2. Select multiple roles in the Roles pane, right click them and click Assign to Selected User(s).
   

• To assign multiple roles to multiple users, follow the below steps:
  

1. Select multiple users in the Users pane.
   
2. Select multiple roles in the Roles pane, right click them and click Assign to Selected User(s). This assigns the required role(s) to the selected user(s).

   Tip:
   

   • Alternatively, drag the selected role(s) in the Roles pane and drop them to the selected user(s) in the Users pane to assign the roles.
     
   • Select Include internal roles check box to view and assign the internal roles such as everyone role.
     
   • You can select multiple roles or users by holding down the CTRL key and press CTRL+A to select all the roles.
     
   
   Note: You can assign roles to users in the Roles - Users view also.

   
   CAUTION:You must assign only the required roles to a user. Addition of unnecessary roles causes security leaks.
